The demonstration activity of the new "Roasted Black (Calcium) Adsorption Combustion+Desulfurization Wet Electricity Integration" technology organized by the Aluminum Carbon Branch has been successful

On July 6, 2024, commissioned by Hebei Jinke Environmental Protection Equipment Co., Ltd., the Aluminum Carbon Branch of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association organized relevant technical experts in the industry to conduct technical analysis and demonstration activities for the new "Roasting Black (Calcium) Adsorption Combustion+Sulfur Removal Wet Electricity Integration" technology engineering project located in the Roasting Workshop 2 of Xinjiang Nongling Carbon Co., Ltd. The technical expert group is led by Professor Shao Zhuqiang, General Manager of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Technology Development and Exchange Center, and includes senior experts such as Dr. Zhu Jinwei from the Atmospheric Environment Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Environmental Sciences, Professor Hao Yongqin from Zhengzhou Nonferrous Metals Research Institute of Aluminum Industry of China, Professor Ding Bangping from Hebei Hongke Carbon Co., Ltd., and Professor Qi Shouzhi from the Aluminum Carbon Branch.

The technical demonstration meeting will be chaired by Shao Zhuqiang. At the meeting, the expert group first listened to a report on the new "roasting black (calcium) method adsorption combustion+desulfurization wet electricity integration" process technology, and then conducted inquiries while reviewing and verifying relevant materials.

The process technology of "roasting black (calcium) method adsorption combustion+desulfurization wet electricity integration" uses metallurgical coke powder generated in the carbon production process as an adsorbent to adsorb and purify harmful substances such as asphalt smoke and tar in the flue gas. The adsorbed metallurgical coke powder is used as high calorific value fuel. This process can also use calcium oxide as an adsorbent, and the adsorbed calcium oxide can be incinerated and desorbed for recycling or used as a desulfurizer in wet desulfurization systems, achieving a circular economy. The project began industrial application in May 2023 and has been running smoothly for over a year now. Compared with electrostatic capture method, metallurgical coke powder adsorption has the characteristics of small equipment maintenance, low labor intensity, fewer safety hazards, low operating costs, and stable purification efficiency.
After repeated exchanges and discussions among the members of the expert group, it was confirmed that the "roasting black (calcium) method adsorption combustion+desulfurization wet electricity integration" process technology is efficient and stable, which can help improve the competitiveness of carbon enterprises and promote the high-quality development of the carbon industry in reducing pollution and consumption. It is recommended to accelerate its promotion and application.
